Target Haul!

Hello lovelies!

I recently made a trip to Target to pick up some essentials and, of course, participating in some impulse buys. (Target is my downfall when it comes to unnecessary purchases.)

Anyways let's get on with it!

Right to Left: Olay Daily Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin, Soft Lips in Watermelon, Raspberry, and Jack Frosting, Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stains in "Charm," and O.P.I. nail polish in "Kiss Me On My Tulips."

I've already done a review on the Olay moisturizer and will be doing one on the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stain in the near future...promise!

The main reason I dropped by Target was to pick up the Soft Lips Chapstick. I fell in love with this line of chapsticks about 3 or 4 years ago. They glide on smoothly, smell fantastic, contain SPF 20, and moisturize your lips!

I usually buy mine from Publix (my local grocery store) but the only selection they have is limited to Vanilla..which to me, vanilla is boring. On the Soft Lips website they advertised their products were available in Target Stores, hence why I travelled there.

I have yet to try the Jack Frosting but I'm guessing it's similar to a buttercream scent, similar to what you would find on cakes and such. I have, however, tried the Watermelon and Raspberry flavors and they are AMAZING.

The scents are so similar to what the actual fruit smells like and does not smell like chemicals at all. The best thing is, is that these chapsticks don't have any taste. I do like products that taste great, but the problem I have is when the chapstick or lip gloss tastes good, I end up licking it off my lips which further dries them out.

These chapsticks are not sticky, and feel light weight.  They are also small enough to stash in a small clutch and have a rotating bottom which allows for replenishment. They're around $2.99 - $3.99 USD depending where you purchase them.

I also purchased one of my first O.P.I. nail polishes, "Kiss Me On My Tulips". I am usually more of an Essie fan because I haven't had that much luck with O.P.I. nail polishes and I like the Essie packaging more.

I tried this color because I am addicted to pink, pink based reds, pink based oranges, and coral nail polish colors due to the fact they compliment my skin tone more (I have an olive/golden skin tone). This color is pretty true in both indoor and outdoor lighting.

I really liked this color because it was VERY opaque and I found myself needing only one coat to cover the entire nail. Well, that's where my love affair ended with this nail polish.

From past experiences I have learned to always apply a base coat when using dark colored polish to prevent staining of the nail underneath, and so in this instance, I did. I use the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails clear polish as a base and a top coat. I do this routine with all my nail polish colors and most stay on for a a good amount of time (5-6 days).

However, this nail polish only lasted around 2 days before slightly chipped at the top of the nail. I use my hands a lot at work because I work in retail so that might speed up the chipping process but the nail polish I had on before lasted almost three times as long before it started chipping...and it was a less expensive nail polish!

I guess when considering chipping speed, there are many factors: how much you use your hands, how many coats you apply, the color, and the formulation of the nail polish.

I do still enjoy this color and have received numerous compliments on it. I will still be using it, but I might just leave it as a pedicure color for the summer and spring time.

Do you have any nail polish colors or chapstick brands you're in love with?

Leave a comment and have a fabulous day!

Olay Daily Moisturizer Review

Hey beauties!

I recently made a trip to Target to pick up some facial moisturizer. My face has been really dry recently because of the weather transition from summer to fall/winter.

In Florida our summer months are very humid and muggy meaning there is more moisture in the air. I rarely use moisturizer during the summer because of the extra moisture (although I should.) However, I don't know if it's because I'm getting older or there is something different about the weather by my skin is EXTREMELY dry.

My face is just gross and you can tell I have really dry skin when I'm wearing makeup. It might be the makeup I'm using, I use Loreal Paris, but there isn't any "anti-pimple" magic in there which is the leading cause of my facial dryness most of the time so I'm stuck in a pickle.

Anyways, because of Thanksgiving here in America I got to see my cousin who is my age, 20, and she said she used the Olay Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15 and that she loves it. Hence, my trip to Target.

I'm really picky about moisturizer because I have the type of skin that ranges between oily-normal-dry depending on the product I use.

I can't have moisturizers that feel heavy and take a long time to soak in because my skin becomes oily and it feels like I have a pound of makeup on. I also can't have moisturizers that apply like a dream but only moisturize for 20 minutes because I'll have to keep reapplying.

That said, I am VERY pleased with this moisturizer. This is the first Olay product I've used because I thought Olay was only made for older women due to their plethora of anti-aging products. I was wrong obviously and I'm happy I was.

The moisturizer is AMAZING because it feel so light weight yet it moisturizes AND it contains SPF 15 which I find is the lowest for most makeup but still nice protection. I also chose the sensitive skin because I tend to be allergic to the most random beauty products so it's always better to be safe than sorry in my book.

The only thing I don't like about this moisturizer is that it doesn't come with a pump, but rather a..hole? A squeezy hole? I have no idea how you would identify this but that's why I put up a picture!

I like my moisturizer to have pumps because I'm weird, but I feel like when you don't have a pump you can get the most out of your product because you can almost empty the bottle. Whereas, with a pump, you're limited to the product that the straw-thingy can reach which sometimes isn't a lot.
Did that make any sense? Ugh.

Anyways, I do HIGHLY recommend this product if you are like me and like a light-weight moisturizer that still gets the job done. I think this was around $15.00 USD for a 4 oz bottle. They have bigger bottles but I didn't want to purchase a large bottle if the product was crappy.

Anyways, have a fabulous day!

I've been luckily nominated for the "Versatile Blogger/Liebster Award" by Katy at "the rawrdrobe", Josie at "If Ever I Stray"and Samantha at "Beauty And The Believer".

First I want to say thank you to these beautiful ladies for nominating me (and sorry it's taken me so long to do this!) and second I want to thank you readers for actually READING this post. :)

Let's do this.

Nerdy Monday - OOTD

'Ello loves!

This weekend I made a spectacular purchase. I got a pair of...hipster/nerd glasses!

I realize that these accessories might not be "in" anymore but I'm still in love with them and have rocked them every day since I got them (I've had them since Friday!).

Hipster/nerd glasses I believe are a "love them or hate them" fashion piece. I've had numerous compliments as well as a generous amount of backlash for wearing them. Some people think that since they aren't prescription, the glasses are a waste of money and make you look silly. Others have asked where I purchased them (Claire's or their off-branch, Icing, carries them and this is where I purchased mine for $12 USD) and say that they complete any outfit.

I have noticed myself wandering into the more "hipster" fashion style so therefore these were an essential purchase. The glasses are a sort of cherry on top, and add a finished look to an outfit.

I wore mine to class today and since it was a bit chilly outside, I paired them with black knit jeggings from American Eagle, a plaid shirt (which I had from an ex-boyfriend) which was very loose fitting, a pair of short brown uggs, and a scarf from Target.

Do you have any favorite accessories?! Leave a comment and have a fabulous day!

Be A Budget Shopper!

Hello loves!

Obviously if you read the title of this handy dandy blog post you'll know I'm going to be talking about budget shopping!

Now budget shopping can be finding great deals, shopping sales racks, going thrifting, or even plundering yard sales.

Budget shopping is VERY important to me since I am a starving college student with a limited income (I have a part time job AND go to school). I've learned from a very young age never to pay full price for an item.

I was recently browsing on Pinterest and came across these adorable jeans from Anthropologie and was all set on buying them until I found out they were $178.00 USD.

WHAT?! Simply stated I did not order them. I knew I could find them somewhere else.

So. The other day I was at target picking up some new liquid foundation and I always make time to meander through the clothing section.

I love shopping at Target because you can find every day essentials (i.e. sweaters, plain shirts, layering tanks, t-shirts) and they're all pretty affordable.

Anyways. I was just strolling and I found a pretty much identical pair of polka dot jeans for $23.00 USD. Needless to say, I got them.

Anthropologie Jeans $178 USD
Target Jeans $23 USD

The only real difference between the jeans is that the jeans from Target have white dots on a grey background and the Anthropologie jeans have the dots on a navy/blue background.

I don't really care what background the dots are on. I knew that I HAD to get them so I did.

The luckiest finds are the ones you happen upon so check budget stores often.

What are your favorite budget stores to shop in?  Leave a reply and have a fabulous day!

Weather vs. Fashion

Hello loves!

I'm quickly writing this before getting ready for class but I decided I HAVE to share this website with you.

I am constantly checking my weather channel app or the actual "Weather Channel" website to find out what the temperature is outside and what it is going to be like whenever I am done with class, work, or shopping at the grocery store.

Well...the weather channel app lies. Not all the time, but sometimes. I've found myself walking outside with a sweater and a long sleeve shirt only to be welcomed by 85 degree weather.
Not pleasant.

If you're anything like me, and like to dress according to the weather check this site out. I found it a couple of weeks ago and have been meaning to blog about it!

Daily Dress Me

I took a screen shot so sorry for the terrible quality. You can go to the website and type in your own city or zip code and it gives you accurate information about the weather, a little description, and an out fit example for every day of the week. These are the outfits chosen for the area I live in.

All of the outfits come from Forever 21 but you can always tweak them to match your own personal style.

I don't know if it works for other countries besides the U.S. but check it out and see! It's definitely a life saver.

That's all for now loves. I have to go start getting ready for class or I'll be late...again. Have a fabulous day!

Do you pay attention to the weather when you get dressed or do you just pick out an outfit?

Going the Glinda Route

"In the regular world, Halloween is when children dress up in costumes and beg for candy. In Girl World, Halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it." - Mean Girls
Halloween costumes are a HUGE deal. I know I started thinking of mine in early September, and not only do you have to worry about the costume but where you'll be wearing it to.

Last year I was lame and went trick-or-treating with some of my friends. I was in it for the candy and not so much the costume...I threw on a freaking sheet and called myself a roman alright! Ugh. Not my finest hour.

Anyways, this year I'm going to a halloween party that my boyfriend's boss is throwing.

So basically, I can't dress like a slut.

I've decided also this year that I didn't want to spend a lot of money on my costume because as everyone knows you only wear it once because you don't want to be caught DEAD in a repeated costume.

I chose to be a witch this year. Simply dress in all black and buy a witch's hat.
($3 at Target. Whatta steal) I'm just going to play up the makeup a TON.

Anyways. I'll post photos of my finished attire but I'm thinking more of a pretty, more sophisticated witch. I'm not all into the green Wizard of Oz look, I'm going the Glinda Route.

Here are some of my ideas for makeup..I'm definitely digging the sparkle one.

Have you guys decided what your costume is going to be? Do you have any other makeup ideas? Leave a response!

Thanks for reading and have a fabulous day!

Coral & Leopard = LOVE

Hello lovelies!
I'm sorry I haven't updated in a while, butttt, I have exciting blog posts coming up in the future!

I cleaned out my closet and spent TWO hours at Forever 21 which consistently fuels my addiction to fashion.

Back to the news, I got these new coral high waisted shorts which I ABSOLUTELY adore.

I paired these shorts with a black and grey leopard top, which I also got from Forever 21.

Now some of you in the United States are probably asking why I bought these at the beginning of winter. In Florida it never really gets THAT cold and I think the shorts will look adorable with black tights or leggings underneath and black'll be cute. I know.

I also got this necklace which is adorable. I never really wear silver but the only other one they had was black so I picked up this one. I still think it's a cute statement necklace which will match a lot of my outfits.

Do you have anything you're definitely transferring from summer over to fall? Leave a response!

Have a fabulous day!

Ulta Haul/Smashbox Review

Ahhhh, today was a good day.

Finally after like 2 years of questioning, ULTA opened in my town. Today they had their soft opening which apparently isn't as grand as a GRAND opening but you could still get unnecessary makeup goodies and leave happy...which is exactly what I did.

Mmm so let's get on with the pictures!

Left - Right:
Essie "Mint Candy Apple", Essie "Splash of Grenadine",
Butter London "Trout Pout", Tarte "dollface", Smashbox "Focal Point"

I really want to focus on "Focal Point" by smashbox...focus on "Focal Point"? Oh dear lord. I want to TALK about "Focal Point"...mleh.

This palette didn't really catch my eye at first, but when I looked at it closer and swatched it I literally fell in love.

I'm surprised I picked this palette because for some reason some part of me associates glittery eyeshadow with the crappy makeup you get for 8 year olds...or vegas show girls. I'm definitely more of a matte type of girl so I tend to stay away from anything that sparkles like Edward Cullen in the sunlight.

Although, I digress. I like this palette simply because the shadows are so pigmented and they are so creamy and glide on smoothly.

I took swatches both indoors and outdoors

The lightest shade, Champagne (bottom or far left), and the darkest shade, Java (top or far right), are what I expected. Champagne is a little lighter and sparklier than I expected but as a highlight shade it's not THAT outrageous.

However, Flamingo, the medium shade (obviously in the middle), was a complete surprise to me. I've been on the hunt for a coral colored shade after seeing a post on Pinterest (which I now cannot find) because the makeup was stunning. It was white, light gold, and coral with winged liner...that description did not do it justice. I'll try to find the picture and post it later.

ANYWAYS. I immediately "oooo-ed" when I swatched this color. Obviously in the pictures it comes off a little harsh and orangey but with a light application this color will be gorgeous. In person the color is a beautiful pinkish-orange color but with, I would guess, a pink base.

Ahhh. That description doesn't do the color justice so if you're at ULTA or maybe Sephora just check this palette out.

Good gravy I've done a lot of unnecessary rambling.
I have one more thing to share and then I won't subject you to anymore of my gibberish.

I got these shoes the other day at Target. They're adorable. My mother hates them but I love them!

Have you ever purchased something your mother absolutely hated?
Leave a response and have a fabulous day!

Outfit of the Day

Outfit Of The Day (ootd..for future reference) post and some obvious rambling. Let's goo!

It was a wee-bit cold outside this morning, more like low 70's but hey in Florida that's enough for a long(ish) sleeved shirt with appropriate layers.

      -  Plaid Top: Target
      - Grey T-shirt: Forever 21
      - Shorts: Hollister
      - Purse: Steve Madden

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this purse. I saw it at DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse) and of course HAD to get it.  You can add it to any outfit and it's one of those pieces that blatantly states that YOU ARE stylish.

As you can see, its very... fringey? I also love the gold accents on the handles. This is, what I call, a double handle bag. There's probably some term for it but whatever. I usually use the two main handles, not the cross body one but the fact it can become a cross body makes it so convenient.

...and the rambling begins

Hmmm. How do you start a new blog post? I guess I’ll just launch myself into this thing and see how it goes.
I’m Kelly if you haven’t read the handy side bar. A little random background info shall we?
  • I’m a floridian. I don’t like the cold..I’m a warm weather person..well, more like a mid 60’s to mid 70’s kind of person.
  • I seriously might have a shopping addiction so don’t judge. THIS IS A NO JUDING ZONE!
  • I don’t have the best spelling/grammar skills. I’m a terrible speller and usually have a hard time translating ideas to words
  • …and I overuse the same adjective multiple times because I have no creativity.
  • I’m a master procrastinator.
  • I love astrology and read my horoscope everday. (I'm a Leo and definitely a strong one at that)
PLAN for this blog to be about random fashion crap and my lame life.
I’m gonna try to do one post a day, hence, but as said before, I’m a procrastinator but I’ll do my best.
…I feel like that was a terribly long introduction. Mleh. Whatever.
